Weekend warriors aren’t BRP’s only target audience. The company also builds tactical vehicles for commercial and government organizations, and according to BRP, they are used around the world.

Released on April 2, 2014, was the company’s newest Sea-Doo Search and Rescue (SAR) watercraft. Designed for emergency response operations—such as surf rescue, whitewater rescue and flood rescue—the Sea-Doo SAR sports a heavy-duty front bumper, carbon fibre mast navigation lights, intelligent brake and reverse (iBR) and an optional rescue sled attachment system—which is sold separately. It is also designed with dual sponsors and running boards to make it more stable and improve buoyancy.

In the press release, Yves Leduc, vice-president and general manager for BRP’s North American division, said the company worked closely with end users to make sure the SAR watercraft answers their needs.

“Those who tested it are eager to add it to their water rescue fleet,” said Leduc.

The Sea-Doo SAR was to be officially unveiled at the Fire Department Instructors Conference in Indianapolis, Indiana, on April 10 to 12, 2014.
