The third round of the Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals took place June 19, 2016, in Calgary, Alberta, at the Wild Rose MX Park (Blackfoot Park). Wild Rose features a hard-packed track with varying elevation and dirt conditions.
Tyler Medaglia pushed through the first moto on his FC 350 but the track was very wide open, causing him to lose some positions. Medaglia had a great start in Moto 2 and almost claimed the holeshot, but was hit from the side forcing him back to 12th place. From there, he worked himself through the pack and was closing in on sixth with only three laps to go. While working on the pass, Medaglia hit a rock and went down. He finished Round 3 with a seventh place finish.
“Calgary went OK,” said Medaglia. “I had a good start in Moto 1 but had made a bike change after practice, so I did not feel as comfortable as I should have. During Moto 2, I was feeling strong and made a lot of passes. Sixth place was in sight but I unfortunately hit a rock, went down and finished seventh. Everyone in my corner worked hard and I appreciate it very much."
The next stop on the Canadian circuit is Moto Valley Raceway in Regina, Saskatchewan, on June 26.
