In typical Tyler fashion, instead of relaxing in the air conditioning the day before the race, he was out riding in the hills above Kamloops, B.C., enjoying his 2016 FC350 and spending quality time with his family. When race day approached, the welcoming atmosphere and family values of the Husqvarna Race team became evident as the Medaglia family, including Tyler’s wife, Heidi Cooke (former Canadian Motocross Women’s Champion), arrived on site to support and cheer Tyler on.
“It wasn’t the best,” said Tyler. “I got tangled up in the first start and came through the pack from last. I rode my best but just felt uncomfortable all day. The heat caused some problems and I struggled with some brake overheating issues. We will rebound for Round 2—I’m not too worried and I’m giving it my all. We had a lot of kids coming by for posters and autographs—the interaction with fans and spectators in the pits is an important part of race day and we had a great time.”
The next stop on the Canadian circuit is Nanaimo, B.C. Nanaimo is notorious for its rough track and difficult terrain, but when the going gets tough, Tyler’s heart and determination shine through above all. There is no doubt that he will rebound at Round 2 and prove to be a fierce competitor on his FC350, but knowing Tyler, he will also enjoy the journey and have a fun time doing it.
