The Peace Motocross Association supports its own
Behind the revving engines, the fierce competition, the dirt, the dust and the exhaust; behind the helmets, the protective gear, the powerful bikes and the roaring crowds; behind all of this, the Peace Motocross Association (PMA) has a great sense of camaraderie and sportsmanship.

The PMA is an active association, with several events lined up for the season and a number of strong contenders. PMA president Rick Leitner said there are several riders to watch throughout the region.
“Dominic Chmelyk out of Fort St. John is really doing well and looking good,” said Leitner. “Trae Franklin’s always looking good and we’ve got Brock Leitner and Jensen Warnock—that’s the battle in the 60s. And we’ve got a bunch of great 50 riders.”
Leitner said several riders from the PMA are also headed to the Pro Nationals, including Drew Clegg and Kyle McGlynn.
Leitner said one of the best features of the PMA is the support and friendly competition between riders, including his own son, Brock, and Brock’s main rival and best racing buddy, Jensen Warnock.
“They’ve always battled,” said Leitner. “It’s been a comical battle to watch ever since those kids were on 50s. They battled on 50s, they’ve battled on 60s and they’re battling on 80s right now. They’re really good friends and they’re really good competition and it’s great to see them both have fun and ride together. The sportsmanship when those two come off the track is second to none. There are always congratulations and high-fives.”
Leitner said sportsmanship is a large part of the PMA. Riders and their families get to know each other quite well throughout the season, giving them reason to look out for one another even as they compete for the glory.
“We’ve got guys that will give a spare bike in the same class—the guys they’re competing against—to come out and compete against them,” said Leitner. “We’re not talking (about) just sharing parts; we’re talking (about) sharing bikes. It’s a fantastic organization and there are fantastic people in it.”
The PMA and BCMA are preparing to host round six of the Canadian Motorsports Racing Club (CMRC) Provincials in Grande Prairie on August 30 and 31.
“It’s going to be the biggest race northeast of Edmonton ever,” said Leitner.
