Urban endurocross is new to Canada, but Calgary is getting set to hold the country’s first ever event of the kind. Pro rider Shane Cuthbertson of Airdrie has been tasked with building a custom track for Red Bull Rocks and Logs. Design inspiration comes from enduros and hare scrambles around the world and the course will have both natural and manmade obstacles. Participants will compete in head-to-head knockout style heats involving 112 amateur riders or 24 competitors in the pro class. The top six riders in each class will split a prize purse of $8,550.
Everything takes place on May 25, 2013, at Wild Rose MX Park in Calgary. Registration is $55 for amateurs with a maximum of 112 riders. It costs $70 to register in the professional class with a maximum of 24 entrants. Participants must be 18 or older. Visit the Red Bull Rocks and Logs page for more information or to sign up.
