If you’re a hunter, angler or any kind of outdoor enthusiast, the Yamaha Wolverine was built for you. And now, you can bring the family along for an adventure with Yamaha’s new Wolverine X4 EPS. More than just a stretched version of its two-seating counterpart, the 2018 Wolverine X4 EPS features an all-new engine, a compact, nimble chassis and what Yamaha says is the most versatile cab in its class.
Reliable power delivery comes from an all-new 847-cc parallel twin cylinder motor, which delivers a claimed 69 horsepower. Throttle control is ultra-smooth and precise, thanks in part to a new drive-by-wire system. The Wolverine X4 EPS also features a Speed Management System where the operator can turn a key to limit the vehicle’s top speed to 40 kilometres per hour.
According to Yamaha, the 2018 Wolverine X4 EPS excels on tight, technical trails. At the front, you’ll find dual Wide Arc-style A-arms to increase ground clearance in the centre of the machine. To accommodate and provide a plush ride for passengers, the independant double wishbone rear suspension is equipped with a rear stabilizer bar and self-levelling shocks.
Passengers will also appreciate the rear stadium-style seats, which are higher than the front seats to allow for a better view. There is generous legroom in this vehicle, but cargo capacity is somewhat limiting. The good news, however, is that the rear seats fold up and slide forward. The Wolverine X4 EPS can carry up to 600 pounds in the cargo bed area and it has a 2,000-pound towing capacity.
