2014 Honda Pioneer 700-4

by

Perhaps one of the biggest decisions facing side-by-side customers is whether they should buy a two-, a three- or a four-seater? Well that decision might be a little easier for some to make now that Honda has released the 2014 Honda Pioneer 700-4.

This all-new machine, which should be arriving at Honda dealerships in October, comes with two stowable seats in the rear cargo area that allow the unit to seat two, three or four people. Three-point seatbelts are provided for the rear passengers and they are located on the unit’s Roll Over Protection Structure so they will stay out of the way when they’re not being used. When the rear area needs to be utilized for hauling cargo, the rear passenger seats simply tilt up and out of the bed. The cargo bed is rated for hauling up to 1,000 pounds and the machine itself is rated for towing up to 1,500 pounds.

The 2014 Honda Pioneer 700-4 and its brother, the 2014 Honda Pioneer 700—which is a two-seater—replace Honda’s Big Red side-by-side. Both are powered by a 675-cc, liquid-cooled, OHV single-cylinder, four-stroke engine. Instead of giving these machines a belt-style transmission, Honda integrated its automotive-style transmission with a hydraulic torque converter and shaft drive into the new Pioneers.

The Pioneer 700-4 and Pioneer 700 complete Honda’s 2014 side-by-side lineup but according to the company, more models will be added to the lineup in future years.
