2015 Yamaha FZ-07

If you’re looking for a fun, sporty bike at a price you can afford, Yamaha’s new 2015 FZ-07 might be the right one for you.

Since it’s a new bike, everything on the 2015 FZ-07 is, well, pretty much new. You can read through the long list of specifications on Yamaha’s website, but we picked out a few key points you’ll probably want to know right away.

First off, the 2015 FZ-07 is powered by a liquid-cooled, 689-cc, inline twin engine, which, according to Yamaha, produces 75 horsepower and plenty of low- to mid-range torque.

It comes with a six-speed transmission—which is specifically designed to suit the horsepower and torque of the engine—and a compact, wet-type multi-plate clutch to ensure consistent, positive engagement and a light level pull.

Designed on what Yamaha calls a diamond-type backbone high-tensile steel frame, the 2015 FZ-07 is supposed to be well-balanced, lightweight and easy to handle. And it gets a claimed 68 imperial miles per gallon—which, if true, is impressive considering the bike is only equipped with a 3.1 imperial gallon fuel tank, or 14 litres.

The 2015 FZ-07 comes in metallic gray, bluish white and vivid red. If you want to see what this bike looks like in real life don’t go running down to your local Yamaha bike shop today because it won’t be there until late June.
