Kawasaki’s hardworking Mule series is turning 30, and what better way to celebrate than launching a brand new model—with the help of Stone Cold Steve Austin nonetheless. The Hall of Fame wrestler is featured on Kawasaki’s TV commercials, touting the new 2018 Mule Pro-FXR with the slogan “Ride Like a Boss.” But enough about him. Let’s get down to business.

Like the FX and FXT models, the new 2018 Mule Pro-FXR is powered by an 812-cc engine, producing 48 lb-ft of torque—so it’s still the most powerful Mule ever built. The Pro-FXR, however, exhibits more playfulness with truck-like front end styling, a shortened wheelbase, improved ground clearance and a tighter turning radius. It is equipped with Kawasaki’s speed sensitive electronic power steering and a specially tuned CVT transmission that delivers smooth acceleration, maximum traction and natural engine braking.

There is seating inside the cab for three, with plenty of leg and head room. Topping it off is a new hard suntop. The 2018 Mule Pro-FXR comes with a integrated two-inch hitch receiver, rated for up to 2,000 pounds, and a gas-assisted tilt cargo bed that can handle up to 1,000 pounds. In Austin’s words, “this thing can haul, tow, transport and tackle just about any job you can throw at it.”
