Is it an ATV or a personal watercraft? It’s both. The Quadski is the world’s first high-speed personal sports amphibian. Equipped with a 175-horsepower BMW Motorrad engine and transmission, the Quadski is capable of reaching speeds of up to 45 miles per hour on both land and water. With the push of a button, it transforms in seconds from a land machine to a water vehicle and vice versa. The Quadski is 10½ feet long and just over five feet wide. It weighs in at 1,300 pounds and it has a 15-gallon fuel tank.

The Quadski is designed and developed by Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc.—a privately held company based in Auburn Hills, Michigan.

The Quadski was unveiled in October 2012, and it is being sold at select dealerships in the U.S. In an October 2012 press release, Alan Gibbs, the founder of Gibbs Technologies and Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc., said, “Although Quadski initially will be available for sale only in the U.S., we expect to find a ready market for it in Europe, Latin America and elsewhere around the world in 2014 and beyond.”

According to a media rep at Gibbs Sports Amphibians Inc., the company is currently reviewing its dealers plan in regards to expansion to the Canadian market—so keep your fingers crossed if you’d like to see this one-of-a-kind vehicle make its way up north.
