Sena Technologies Inc. has released an exciting new product, and just in time for the riding season. It's called the SMH10R Low Profile Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset and Intercom.
This ultra-thin headset—which is slightly thicker than a U.S. quarter—offers an aerodynamic look and feel with all the great features that Sena products are known for. With the SMH10R headset, riders can enjoy hands-free communication with each other for up to 900 metres (in open terrain). The SMH10R headset offers four-way conference intercom as well. Riders can also listen to music, make and receive phone calls or listen to GPS navigations through the headset by connecting it to their MP3 player, iPod, GPS device or mobile phone.
The SMH10R comes with a rechargeable lithium polymer battery that, when fully charged, allows for seven hours of talk time and seven days of standby time. The SMH10R is easy to install; the initial setup takes about 15 minutes. Included with the headset are two adjustable in-helmet speakers, Velcro pads for placing the speakers, a wired microphone, an attachable boom microphone and a battery pack. Customers also get a two-year warranty on the SMH10R and complimentary access to Sena’s customer support.
My riding partner and I have tested Sena’s flagship headset, the SMH10 for motorcycles, as well as the snowmobile version of the headset, and both products have been a godsend. The SMH10 headsets have proved themselves useful on our ATVing trips as well. We have yet to try out the company’s new SMH10R low-profile headset but I am confident this device would be well suited for both motorcyclists and ATVers.
