Here to give the 2014 Harley-Davidson Softail Slim some competition is the 2015 Gunner from Victory Motorcycles.
Like the Softail Slim, the 2015 Gunner is a bobber-style bike, which means it has been stripped down to retain more basic elements of a classic two-wheeled motorcycle—without all the frills and extras.
That doesn’t mean Victory had to compromise with the 2015 Gunner on its comfort or style features. The bike’s low-slung seat, for example, is designed to give riders the dexterity and confidence of being on a smaller bike. And then there are the tell-tale blacked-out pipes and matte metallic finish of a modern-day Victory motorcycle.
Underneath all that is a 106-cubic-inch Freedom V-twin (1,731-cc) powerplant with 110 ft-lbs. of torque, ready and waiting. Claimed dry weight of the bike is 649 pounds, which means with its power to weight ratio, the 2015 Gunner should have plenty of get-up-and-go. It also sports a six-speed transmission with true overdrive for highway cruising.
Whether it’s on the highway or on city streets, the 2015 Gunner is adept at handling both, according to Victory.
Less is supposed to be more with a bobber-style bike, but Victory doesn’t believe in limiting its riders too much. The company is offering a wide variety of accessories for the 2015 Gunner—from a custom red solo seat to highway bars and a floorboard kit. The 2015 Gunner can even accommodate two people, with the optional passenger seat and headrest.
To see it for yourself, head over to the Victory Motorcycle website, or stop by your local Victory dealer in June. The 2015 Gunner should be on showroom floors by then.
