Since its launch in August 2013, WASPcam has received excellent reviews. From car enthusiasts to the avid angler, everyone seems to have something good to say about this newcomer to the action sports camera market. Plus, there’s a whole team of athletes who endorse WASPcam, the likes of which include pro motocrossers Mike Alessi and Vince Friese.
So what makes WASPcam stand out? Bang for your buck (and the company is based in Canada).
The 9900, one of WASPcam’s flagship models, retails for about $269.99, and that includes the wireless wrist remote. In terms of features, this camera is capable of recording wide-angle, full 1080p HD video and shooting five megapixel photos.
It also comes with an app that allows the camera to be controlled with a smartphone. Footage can be viewed on the smartphone during and after the recording. Videos and photos that are saved on the phone can then be uploaded to social media, and the app will work up to five metres away.
The WASPcam 9900 also features wide and ultra-wide view recording, a photo burst mode and a 10-second timer, which is great for when the photographer wants to get in on the action. The camera comes with a waterproof camera casing, a vented casing back door, three different types of mounts, a lens cover, anti-fog inserts and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery—which is good for two hours and 15 minutes when shooting in the full 1080p30fps capacity.
A wide assortment of accessories are available for the 9900, and WASPcam is constantly adding to its product line. To learn more about WASPcam, go to the company’s website.
