Felicia Robichaud got her first dirt bike when she was seven years old and started racing when she was nine. Eight years later, she is Quebec's top female off-road racer.
Robichaud, who is from Cornwall, Ontario, was the champion of the Pro Women’s class for 2011 and 2012 in the FMSQ—an endurocross racing association based in Bois-des-Filion, Quebec. She has also been on the podium for the Corduroy Enduro in Ontario and among the top five finishers at Amsoil Grand National Cross Country (GNCC) events in the U.S.
Robichaud is looking ahead to a busy season with a new focus on competition.
“This year, I’m dropping the women's class and racing Intermediate with the guys,” said Robichaud.
When she began her racing career, Robichaud competed with the guys and she said she isn’t nervous about doing it again.
The KTM factory-sponsored racer has also moved up from the 150 XC she raced last year to a 200 XC-W. She said she is excited to be on a bigger, more powerful bike.
Her schedule for 2013 includes FMSQ events as well as the Eastern Off-Road Championships and some GNCC races.
In the fall, Robichaud may be heading to Sardinia, Italy, for the FIM International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE). She will be representing Team Canada, alongside fellow KTM riders Shelby Turner of Barons, Alberta, and Lexi Pechout of Calgary, Alberta, for the Women’s Trophy Team.
Robichaud spent two weeks this winter in Florida, training with her ISDE teammates for the upcoming season.
When asked what her goals were for the season, Robichaud said, “Do my best in the Intermediate (class) and race as many races as possible.”
