As 2013 ends, we can now look back at it as one of the best seasons ever for the Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT).
Newcomer to CGRT Ryan Linderman of Hillcrest Mines, Alberta, had a defining year as a first year pro on his Husaberg TE 300, finishing sixth in the Canadian Cross Country Series (CXCC)—with solid finishes at each of the events.
“We are very happy to see Ryan find the confidence to ride with the top five pros in his first year, and finishing each event without any drama or serious mistakes,” said Lee Fryberger, CGRT manager.
Victoria Hett of Vernon, B.C., earned herself an intermediate class championship in the CXCC. Never one to step away from a challenge, Hett rode the long course with the men on her Valley Motosports Husaberg TE 250 to take a hard earned championship home.
Long time A&E Racing supported CGRT co-founder Shane “Moose” Cuthbertson had one of his best years, earning the CMA Alberta Pro Off Road Championship once again as well as fourth place pro in the CXCC despite a DNF at the third round.
Always one to challenge himself, Moose attended the International Six Days of Enduro (ISDE) in Sardinia, Italy, and brought home a coveted gold medal, which was one of only 20 earned by Canadians in the history of the event.
In May, Red Bull hosted the inaugural Red Bull Rocks and Logs in the picturesque Wildrose Motocross park near downtown Calgary, Alberta. Cuthbertson was contracted to be track designer and event consultant.
Taking home third place was Kitimat, B.C.’s Ben Rego. From there, Rego rode strong and consistent during the CXCC series, finishing with a solid third place in a strong pro class. The infamous Baja 1000 would be Rego’s last event of 2013, and he teamed up with a number of strong B.C. riders, collaborating on what was thought to be just a fun attempt at the pro class. Beginner's luck would be with the team, as they took the final podium position in the pro class! It was an amazing feat considering that none of the team had ever ridden Baja before.
“2013 was an amazing year,” said Fryberger. “Every member has something to be very proud of and I am so happy to be able to help each of them achieve their goals.”
