An estimated one million motorcycle enthusiasts converged last week on the “City of Riders” for the 2015 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally in South Dakota. This year was the 75th annual running of this event and according to reports, it was one for the record books.
Concerts, stunt demos, hillclimbs, bike shows, drag races and, of course, organized rides took place. And some of the biggest brands in the business were there, including Harley Davidson, Yamaha, Victory and BRP.
Several new bikes were on display and demo rides were offered. BRP also officially unveiled its new 2016 Spyder F3-S Special Series in Triple Black. The first model in the company’s 2016 lineup, this Y-shaped cruiser features a bolder, more muscular look than previous designs. Chrome wheels and a tinted low windshield have also been added. On the performance side of things, the F3-S Special Series sports the Spyder SE-6 transmission and the Rotax 1330 ACE engine.
Harley Davidson’s Project LiveWire also made a special appearance in Sturgis. Harley was apparently looking for feedback from the public on its first electric motorcycle.
The annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is on many a biker’s bucket list and those who attend say there’s nothing quite like it. For more information and the dates for next year’s Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, see the website.
