A new vehicle tracking device for the motorsports industry

by

The device is called SkyLINK PowerSport and it uses advanced GPS, wireless and satellite technology to track a stolen vehicle. Once a theft is reported, the exact location of the vehicle is sent to SkyLINK’s agents, who work 24/7, and they forward the information to local law enforcement agencies as a high-priority crime.

According to Michael Maledon, who is the CEO of Inilex®, motorsport vehicles are easier to steal than automobiles and they are more difficult to recover since they are easy to hide and their parts can be altered quickly.

“SkyLINK PowerSport tackles both of these issues by tracking its location whether it’s running or not, and ensuring the theft is reported as a crime in progress, triggering police to take immediate action,” said Maledon.

When the vehicle is turned off, SkyLINK PowerSport sets up an early-theft detection perimeter around the vehicle and if the vehicle is moved without the owner’s knowledge, SkyLINK PowerSport sends a notification to the owner via email or text message. The device also has an online dashboard, which can be used by owners to track the speed, battery levels and the location of their vehicle if someone else is using it. This feature may prove valuable for motorsports dealerships who allow customers to test-drive new vehicles.

According to Inilex®, the SkyLINK PowerSport device is durable, water-resistant, dust proof and resistant to vibration. It draws four microamps of power and can be installed by a dealer on virtually any motorsport vehicle.
