The first hard enduro event of the season, Red Bull Minas Riders, saw Spanish rider Alfredo Gomez triumph over more than 500 kilometres of natural obstacles.
British riders Graham Jarvis and Paul Bolton took second and third. Local rider Rigor Rico won the silver category.
“It was a great event," said Gomez. "I pushed as much as I could the final day. I took it easy early in the morning only, but during the rest of the day I got a very good pace and I went as hard as I could until the end. I would like to ride here again. The Brazilian crowd is amazing. It’s full of people everywhere, even on the trails. They scream and push you all the way until the end.”
“It was a good day for me, but unfortunately I couldn’t reach Gomez,” said Jarvis. “But I’m happy with my ride. I would compete again in Red Bull Minas Riders—but now I know what to expect from the Brazilian trails.”
The riders will now get into gear for the next hard enduro series stops: Hare Scramble (Austria), Romaniacs (Romania), 111 Megawatt (Poland), Sea to Sky (Turkey) and Roof of Africa (Lesotho).
