Every year, ATV enthusiasts from the U.S., Canada and even Sweden converge on the Mud Creek Off-Road Park near Jacksonville, Texas, for the High Lifter ATV Mud Nationals. Touted as the largest mud riding event in the world, Mud Nationals attract roughly 15,000 people. It’s an action-packed weekend of mud bogging, live music and much more.
This year, the event took place on March 26 to 30, 2014. Just two days after it was over, Can-Am sent out a press release highlighting the success of its factory sponsored race teams.
According to the company, Can-Am racers dominated the field.
Team Gorilla Powered by Can-Am won both the Massimo Obstacle Course and the Endurance Challenge but it was longtime Gorilla member and mud racer Steve Hittle’s victory that stood out. Hittle took first place in the Can-Am/BRP Mud Bog RUV class on Friday.
Jason Shanas, who is the owner of Team Gorilla, was pleased.
“We were one of the most dominant teams at Mud Nationals this year,” said Shanas in the press release, “which was highlighted by Maverick racer Steve Hittle’s RUV win.”
S3 Racing had a successful weekend as well with team member Shane Dowden bringing home two victories and five total podiums.
Nine Can-Am racers were featured by the Performance Power Sports team during the weekend. Team member John Soileau earned third in the RUV class in the Can-AM/BRP Bog while his teammate Jace Cheramie was successful in landing six total podiums. Also on the podium for the Mudda Cross Pro Series B class was Performance Power Sports racer Matt Bernard.
