It’s official—Gas Gas Pacific and Team Fracy are forming Canada’s first-ever professional motorcycle trials team. It will consist of two pro-level riders and three support riders. Names of the riders have not yet been announced, but the team will be ready by January 1, 2015.
The goal, according to Dave Fair, the sales manager at Gas Gas Pacific, is to help the sport grow.
“We at Gas Gas Pacific are very excited and look forward to working with the team and helping grow the sport of trials in Canada,” he said.
The idea to create this Gas Gas Pacific Pro Trials Team came from B.C.-based trials rider Steve Fracy. Fracy, who is a four-time Canadian Trials champion, will be the new team’s manager.
“I’m extremely excited to be able to work with the very top riders in Canada on the best machinery, and more importantly, work with the incredible pool of great young riders we have at this time . . .,” said Fracy in an October 2014 press release.
Fracy has a good relationship with Gas Gas Pacific and with the Canadian Motorcycle Association (CMA). For the past year, he has served as the head of the CMA’s Trials Advisory Committee.
If you’ve never heard of Gas Gas, it is a Spanish motorcycle company that is best known for its trials bikes, and Gas Gas Pacific is the official importer of the brand in Western Canada.
