Professional off-road racer Shane Cuthbertson of the Alberta-based Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) has been hard at work, designing and building the course for Red Bull’s upcoming Rocks and Logs event. What will be Canada’s First Urban Endurocross Challenge will take place on May 25, 2013, at the Wild Rose Motocross Park in Calgary, Alberta.

According to CGRT’s manager, Lee Fryberger, Cuthbertson has been working on this project for several months. Fryberger said Cuthbertson was tasked by Red Bull to design the course. To make it interesting for the 136 riders who will be at this event, Cuthbertson incorporated design elements from enduros and hare scrambles around the globe.

It will be a head-to-head, knockout style of racing with a pro and an amateur class. Up for grabs is an $8,550 cash prize, to be split between the top six winners in each class.

If you’ve been around Western Canada’s enduro circuit for a few years, you probably remember the Xtinction event that was put on by CGRT in Alberta. Well, according to Fryberger, the upcoming Rocks and Logs will be the biggest off-road event in Canada since Xtinction so you had better plan to be there.
