Monday, June 9, was a good day for employees at Ducati headquarters in Bologna, Italy. As they arrived at work, they all got a first look at the company’s new 2015 Scrambler.
To set the mood, Ducati created a beach atmosphere—with music, surfboards and street food. The bike itself was kept under cover and employees weren’t allowed to take photographs while viewing it.
Releasing this bike is a big deal for Ducati.
It was 1962 that the Scrambler first came into production. A simple bike with a simple engine, the Scrambler had an excellent frame and stylish good looks—for its time. According to Ducati, it was considered a balance between American and European schools of motorcycling. The Scrambler became an icon, but despite its popularity–especially in Italy—it was taken out of production in 1974.
Ducati claims the new 2015 Scrambler will pay homage to its predecessor by merging traditional with contemporary features.
The Scrambler won’t break cover until the fall of this year, but Ducati fans can catch a shadowy glimpse of what it will look like by watching the teaser on Vimeo. They can also check the Scrambler Ducati website regularly for details as they become available.
