Colten Moore is probably the last person you’d think to sit down and write a book. A top athlete in the world of freestyle ATVing and snowmobiling, he lives life on the edge.
As a member of Travis Pastrana’s Nitro Circus, Colten tours the globe flipping ATVs in front of huge crowds. He’s also a familiar face at Winter X Games, having claimed three gold medals in various snowmobile disciplines. Colten’s older brother, Caleb, competed at X Games as well, and the duo were known as the “Infamous Moore Brothers.”
Tragedy struck in 2013, however, when Caleb became the first athlete in X Games history to die from injuries sustained during competition. Despite the incident, Colten went back to X Games the very next year and won a gold in snowmobile freestyle, dedicating the achievement to his brother.
In a recent interview with Good Morning Vail on TV8, Colten said he was excited to have the opportunity to write a book about his experience and that Catching the Sky is about more than freestyle ATVing and snowmobiling.
“It’s not just about the sports,” said Colten. “It’s about my family and the bond between my brother, and basically perseverance to get past the tragedy of losing my brother and being able to push on and keep reaching towards my dreams and pushing towards my goals and with the support of my family, being able to do that.”
Catching the Sky was released on January 19, and it’s available in Canada. For more information and to purchase, see the website.
Colten will be competing in the Snowmobile Freestyle event at this year’s Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, on January 28 to 31.
