The 2015 Summer X Games in Austin, Texas, will feature a new event, Harley-Davidson Flat-Track Racing.

This inaugural event is by invitation only and Team Harley riders apparently will be competing on XR 750s against top riders on other brands of bikes. According to the news release, whoever wins gold will also receive a brand new Harley-Davidson Street 750.

Brad Baker, who is a Harley-Davidson Factory Flat-Track team rider and the reigning AMA pro flat-track champion, is thrilled.

“This is great for our sport,” said Baker. “X Games is about performance, and flat-track racing is the perfect addition to this competition, allowing athletes from around the world to showcase just how they push the boundaries in their sport.”

Harley-Davidson has a longstanding history in the flat-track racing scene and its XR 750, which was introduced in 1972, has been the one to beat for over three decades.

The Harley-Davidson Flat-Track Racing event will kick off the Summer X Games schedule on June 4. For more information and times of television broadcasting, go to the ESPN X Games website.
