There’s off-road motorcycle racing and then there’s the Erzbergrodeo. A four-day two-wheeled festival that takes place in central Austria, this event attracts some of the biggest names in the sport. They come to test each other’s mettle but most importantly, to stake their claim on the infamous Iron Mountain–or at least try.
The 2014 edition of the Erzbergrodeo took place May 29 to June 1, 2014.
Of the 500 riders who entered Sunday’s Red Bull Hare Scramble, only 31 finished. This year, it was Britain’s Johnny Walker who made it to the top step of the podium. Last year’s defending champion Graham Jarvis (UK) took second place while Andreas Lettenbichler (GER) ended up with a third-place finish. Behind him was Alfredo Gómez (ESP) and then Paul Bolton (UK).
A good number of Canadians attended this year’s event—including B.C.-born-and-bred Cory Graffunder, who ended up with an amazing seventh-place finish.
Alberta’s Shane Cuthbertson also tackled the iron giant. He later wrote on his Twitter feed:

Fellow Canadian racers Paul Petrin, Paul Doherty and Ryan Legroulx had reportedly accompanied Cuthbertson to this year’s Erzbergrodeo, but nothing more’s been said on how well they did.
Hats off to our Canadian racers for even attempting the hardest single day enduro race in the world!
