MURRIETA, Calif. – KTM has further sharpened its street supersport RC 390 with the introduction of the new KTM RC 390 R – a homologated, limited edition machine inspired by the new Supersport 300 category of racing. Alongside the launch of this new model, the Austrian brand is pleased to introduce a new dedicated SSP300 Race Kit that will be optionally available (through KTM dealers) for the new RC 390 R in order to create the ultimate READY TO RACE machine for the MotoAmerica Junior Cup and all other small displacement racing classes.
Built on the class-leading RC 390, this new R version embodies the typical KTM READY TO RACE spirit and builds on the abilities and pure appeal of the KTM RC 390. Fitted with fully adjustable WP suspension, the KTM RC 390 R achieves higher handling performance than the standard model. In addition to the new front forks and shock, a special CNC-machined triple clamp matched to new clip-on handlebars communicates higher levels of feedback and rigidity. A shorter intake snorkel widens the power output from the RC 390 R’s 44 hp DOHC single cylinder engine.
On top of all this, the RC 390 R is a street-legal supersport motorcycle with all of the class-leading features offered on the standard RC 390. The RC 390 R, available in North American KTM dealerships, and comes in at $9,999 MSRP.
SSP300 RACE KIT – READY TO RACE
KTM’s Customer Racing division has created the next level motorcycle for small-bore supersport racing by doing what KTM does best – racing! The new SSP300 Race Kit was developed and proven to win through competing in the CIV Italian Road Race Championship and the final round of the World FIM Supersport 300 class, and it will now make its North American racing debut in the 2018 MotoAmerica Championship.
The kit offers over 230 parts and everything needed for FIM competition, including a full titanium Akrapovic SSP300 EVO02 system with race ECU, STM slipper clutch, quickshifter, wiring harness, spare wheels, a huge selection of gearing options, increased cooling system and a full bodywork kit made from lightweight and strong materials, among many other detailed parts.
The kit costs $13, 199.99 MSRP and is not compatible to existing KTM RC 390 CUP motorcycles or any RC specification before 2017.

ORANGE BRIGADE RACE TEAM
With the addition of the MotoAmerica Junior Cup, KTM Motorsports has assembled a two-rider Orange Brigade race team to contest the 2018 championship series. The newly-formed Orange Brigade team is pleased to welcome former KTM RC Cup participants Alex Dumas and Sean Ungvarsky to the lineup aboard the new RC 390 R RACEBIKE, equipped with the new SS300 Race Kits.
Dumas, a Canadian native, finished 3rd overall in the 2017 MotoAmerica KTM RC Cup Championship and went on to represent North America in the World Finals. Ungvarsky earned a host of podium and top-five finishes in the 2017 KTM RC Cup, where he looks to elevate his game with a continued relationship with the orange brand.
KTM will be on-site for all nine rounds of the MotoAmerica Championship to provide technical support to KTM riders. Additionally, former KTM Factory Superbike racer and current brand ambassador, Chris Fillmore, will be on-site to provide riders with coaching and mentorship on race weekends.
KTM North America is offering $25,500 in KTM Cash contingency for the MotoAmerica Junior Cup, as well as an additional $26,000 in championship cash bonus payout for the 2018 season. The overall championship bonus structure is as follows: 1st - $15,000; 2nd - $7,500; 3rd - ,500.
