New Kootenay Rockies ATV Club based out of Cranbrook, B.C.

by Kristen Cook

Previously, riders from the Cranbrook area have had to join the Elkford ATV Club in order to find an organized ATV community. Unfortunately, Cranbrook members were not able to be fully active in the Elkford club due to the distance. There was a clear need for a new club, which has been named the Kootenay Rockies ATV Club, to support members from surrounding communities that would like to participate.

The idea of a new club has been in the works for almost two years, but the problem had been in finding executive members who could commit to club duties. Newly appointed are Doug Williamson, president, and John Zimmerman, vice-president. Gordon Vogel will be serving as secretary. The club was formed at the meeting, and will be moving forward with several new initiatives.

ATV/BC has a solid commitment to safe and sustainable riding. Members are serious about their sport, and strive to practise it in a responsible manner.

As for the new Kootenay Rockies club, the first step is to get it rolling. Given the level of interest, the club has a solid start.
