“Ben (Rego) is a classic work-hard, play-hard guy that enjoys racing and pushing himself to do better. Kitimat (B.C.) can be proud of an ambassador such as Ben ‘the Giant Killer’ Rego,” said Lee Fryberger, manager of the Corner Grass Racing Team. — photo courtesy Alex Franklin and Suzanne Howie

September 9, 2012, marked the last round of the Royal Distributing Canadian Off-Road Championship at Motopark near Chatsworth, Ontario. The World Enduro Canada event went off flawlessly as Mother Nature blessed the racers with a good soaking, granting perfect conditions for Canada’s best off-roaders.

From the motocross starting gate, Kitimat, B.C.’s Ben Rego gated inside the top five in the Pro class and worked his way into third place by lap 4.  From there, Rego kept his Husaberg TE300 on the pipe, taking third at the finish.

Rego’s first full series in 2010 earned him a ride on the Alberta-based Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) for 2011. For 2012, Rego brought home the Royal Distributing Canadian E3 National Enduro title. Along with his podium finish at Motopark, he has solidified himself third overall in the Royal Distributing Off-Road Championship Husaberg and CGRT’s first championship and first, overall podium.

“As of today, I do not think we’ve seen the full extent of Ben’s talent,” said Lee Fryberger, manager of CGRT. “I’m very happy that the dream of any off-roader can become reality with a little passion and hard work. We are very proud of Ben and his accomplishments this year!”

Another good day was had by Fryberger, who holeshot his class, taking the win and capturing the Vet Master Championship.

Cole Dobovich from Provost, Alberta, pushed hard through the Motopark course, finishing 10th place in the Pro class. During his first year as a Pro, Dobovich has faced a few challenges, but his smooth style and never-ending energy has taken him to the end of the nationals with a great finish.

CGRT would like to thank the following sponsors for their support: Husaberg Canada, A&E Racing, Dunlop, FMF, Omega Transport, Rebel Energy Services, FLY, Dragon, Shorai, UFA, SIDI, Warp 9, PG Graphics, ProMoto Billet, ProAction Suspension West, Kermaxx, T.M.
