Test riding new Yamaha motorcycles

Yamaha brought an entourage of new motorcycles to Peak Performance Ltd. in Cranbrook, B.C. — Kirsten Armleder

Yamaha is on the road right now with its Annual Motorcycle Power Tour, and the tour made a stop in Cranbrook, B.C., on May 23, 2015.

RidersWest mechanic Phil Budiselich was there to lead the ride, a 15-kilometre loop that took riders through some twisties and a bit of open highway. Of the seven bikes he rode, Budiselich said the 2015 FJ-09 was his favourite.

Falling somewhere between an adventure style bike and a sport-tourer, the FJ-09 is built for long distance rides, yet it’s fast, torquey and easy to ride on the streets.

“The little R3 sportbike was impressive as well,” said Budiselich.
