The first round of the Royal Distributing/WEC Canadian Off Road Championship series kicked off in Vernon, B.C., on July 7 and 8, 2012. Day one of the two-day event was a huge success for the Corner Grass Racing Team (CGRT) boys.
Riding in the E3 class, Ben “the Giant Killer” Rego took home top honours in the class with a big win over Thomas Cordner and Malcolm Hett.
In his first national event as a pro, rookie Cole Dobovich competed in the highly contested E2 class, putting himself against some heavy hitters, including Bobby Prochnau and Jason Schrage, current and former champions of the series. Dobovich finished ninth.
Team manager Lee Fryberger had this to say about Rego's and Dobovich’s performances:
“I was super impressed with the event,” said Fryberger. “I knew going in that Ben would do well and Cole is young; he will improve. Ninth today is only motivation for him.”
Ben, Cole and Lee are proud to be supported by Husaberg Canada, A&E Racing, Dunlop, FMF, Omega Transport, Rebel Energy Services, FLY, Dragon, Shorai, UFA, SIDI, Warp 9, PG Graphics, ProMoto Billet, ProAction Suspension West, Kermaxx, T.M.
