The Vancouver Island Motocross Association’s Practice Day at the local motocross track in Campbell River, B.C., was damp and muddy, making for a good time to use the new wash pad. Tim Fluter, president of the VIMX, along with Area D director, Brenda Leigh, opened the pad with the first washing of the bikes. The wash pad was funded with help from Area D. — Ed Masters photo

A great time was had by all who came out for the Vancouver Island Motocross Association’s (VIMX) practice day on October 13, 2012. A little rain and a little mud did not stop the riders from preparing for the final race of the VIMX motocross season, which was to be held at the Campbell River Motocross Track on October 14.

Several riders showed up in anticipation of the race but Mother Nature had other plans and she delivered them heavy rain and strong winds throughout Saturday night. The track was prepared nicely for the event by Phil Bachand of Campbell River, B.C., but unfortunately, the track could not be used as the heavy rains the night before had flooded the track, making it unsafe for both riders and race staff.
