Every year on the first Saturday in May, International Female Ride Day (IFRD) celebrates women in motorsports, encouraging them to hit the trails. It's a global movement that empowers women to embrace the thrill of riding and fosters a sense of community among female enthusiasts. The 2025 IFRD is taking place on May 3rd.
In Prince George, B.C., the PGATV Club is embracing this spirit by organizing their second annual IFRD Just Ride event, dedicated exclusively to women riders. To learn more about this initiative, we spoke with Nycole Ross, the club's membership director, about what participants can expect and the significance of this event for the local riding community.

Can you tell us a bit about the upcoming International Female Ride Day event you are planning?
We are planning a special day for our ladies. On the first Saturday in May, International Female Ride Day (IFRD) celebrates women motorcycle riders.
The day also encourages and empowers other women to get involved in powersports. It’s a day that invites ladies to hop on their motorcycle, three-wheeler, scooter, ATV or SXS and, as the IFRD slogan goes, “Just Ride.”
This year, PGATV Club is planning the second annual ‘"IFDR Just Ride - ATV/UTV Style" event just for our ladies!

What do you hope participants take away from the event?
Empowering more ladies to ride their ORVs and invite friends to participate in the sport. Advocating for inclusion, where women riders can thrive and excel.
How many riders are you expecting?
At our first ladies' event last year, 32 ladies joined us to celebrate the event! They all had a great time, made new friendships!
We are hoping to have as many ladies as last year, if not more!

What kind of terrain or trails will be included in the ride?
Since it's still early in the season, we expect to have snow, mud, water and slushy trails. The way we all like it!
What makes this ride special or different from your typical ATV outings?
This ride is for ladies only! Registration is FREE. All the participants have a chance to win fabulous prizes donated by our local supporters. We are planning an Educational Clinic: "Winch Safety & Vehicle Assisted Recovery,"
followed with a ride on the trails of Tabor Mountain.

Are there any sponsors or community partners helping out with this year’s event?
Yes, we have our local dealerships involved with donations of items related to ATVing. We are still seeking additional donations from local businesses.
How can people register or get involved?
The event is for all ladies who ride ATVs, SxS and dirtbikes! Free of charge. To register, just show up to the event!
Have you seen an increase in women getting involved in ATVing?
Definitely, more ladies leave the back seat for the front one! They enjoyed the camaraderie and love to ride their own units.
We have seen an increase in our membership where the ladies are the primary members.
What kind of feedback do you get from riders who attend events like this?
We were very pleased to receive all positive feedback from our first event last year, and many ladies have been asking when the next one will be!

How can we encourage more women and girls to get into riding?
Offer more ladies-only rides. Family oriented rides!
This year, our club is offering the "Youth ATV training course" for youths between the ages of 8 and 15.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
You can find our Just Ride Event on our Facebook page, check out photos from last year's ride or videos on YouTube.
