Dirt bike riders in Saskatchewan have reason to be proud of their province. Not only is it is home to some excellent, professional-level tracks, but this prairie province has also given rise to some of Canada’s greatest motocross racers. For example, there’s Shawn Maffenbeier of Swift Current, Denaye Giroux of Yorkton and the legendary Blair Morgan of Prince Albert.

All name dropping aside, if you’re looking for where to ride dirt bikes and race motocross in Saskatchewan, then you’ve come to the right place. Below is a list (in no particular order) of 11 tracks to try this summer. And if you’re just getting into the motocross scene, be sure to check out the Saskatchewan Motosport Association’s website.

Otopasso Trails

Operated by the Saskatoon Track ’N’ Trail Club, Otopasso Trails features a main event track, a secondary practice track, a small-wheel track for the kids and a large trail riding area. It is located on 60 hectares of land, approximately 20 kilometres south of Saskatoon. The club hosts a weekly points series race, as well as a CMRC provincial series race, an ice breaker in the spring and a two-hour endurance race at the end of the season. For more info, see the club’s website or check out this article on RidersWest: Getting All Revved Up.

Moto Valley Raceway

Moto Valley Raceway in Regina features a national-level motocross track that plays host to the Rockstar Energy Drink Motocross Nationals. This park also has an endurocross and trials section, a vet track, a dirt track oval, a track for 50-cc bikes and a freeride area. It is run by the Regina Motocross Club. For more information, see the club’s website.

Lucas Bachman Memorial Raceway

Reconstructed by the California-based MX Track Builders in 2013, the Lucas Bachman Memorial Raceway is a top-notch motocross facility with a 1.81-kilometre main track and a .89-kilometre mini track for the kids. It is run by the Lloydminster Off-Road Riders and several major events are hosted here—including the CMRC provincial series and the CMA Midwest Amateur MX Series. For more info, see the club’s website.

Trackside MX Park

Trackside MX Park, located east of Estevan, is a great place to get out with friends and family. The park offers diverse terrain, from big doubles to valley sections. It also has a permanent pressurized irrigation system to keep the dust down and grandstands for spectators. Big events include the Southeast Corner Racing Circuit (SCRC). For more info, see the website or visit the Trackside Motocross Association’s Facebook page.

Weyburn Motocross Track

Located adjacent to the Weyburn golf course, the Weyburn Motocross Track is a sand-based course with lots of natural elevation changes. For the off-road riders, there are opportunities around the track to do some freeriding. The track also plays host to the SCRC. For more info, see the website or connect with the Weyburn Motocross Association on Facebook.

Souris Valley Motocross Club

The Souris Valley Motocross Club runs a two-kilometre motocross track near the town of Oxbow. This club also participates in the SCRC. For more info, connect with the club on Facebook.

Moose Jaw Motocross Track

A track that is currently being rebuilt, the Moose Jaw Motocross Track features gently rolling terrain with a variety of loamy, sand-based and hard-packed sections. Designed for both beginners and advanced riders, the layout includes progressive jumps. The property is well shaded too, so riders and spectators can stay cool on hot days. The Moose Jaw Motocross Association welcomes support to keep the ball rolling on developing this track. For more information, see the club’s Facebook page.

Matt Kimball Memorial Track

Run by the Assiniboia Ruffriders Motorcycle Club Inc., the Matt Kimball Memorial Track is a fast-flowing motocross track with lots of jumps. It is located less than a kilometre east of Assiniboia on Highway 13. For more info, see the club’s Facebook page.

Swift Current Raceway

A hard-packed track with a fast layout, Swift Current Raceway has served as the training grounds for one of Canada’s top motocross professionals—Shawn Maffenbeier. It was here on the doubles and rhythm sections that Maffenbeier developed the skills needed to turn his hobby into a full-time career. Swift Current Raceway is run by the Swift Current Motocross Association. For more information, see the club’s Facebook page.

Balzinore MX Park

Designed by Motokazie Track Builders of Minnesota, the Balzinore MX Park near Langham offers a pro-level motocross track with plenty of challenging obstacles. It is designed, however, so that all riders, experienced or not, can practice here. The park is affiliated with the Saskatchewan Motosport Association and will be hosting a provincial race in August 2016. For more info, see the park’s Facebook page.

Millstone Raceway

Women's motocross legend Denaye Giroux calls Millstone Raceway in Yorkton her hometrack. Run by the Yorkton Motocross Club, this facility boasts a main motocross track, a 50 cc track and a practice track for the kids. As well, there is an open area with low angle terrain for beginners who are just learning how to ride a bike. For more information, see the club's Facebook group.
