Motovalley Raceway Regina

Once the snow melts, Motovalley Raceway Regina will be open for riding in southern Saskatchewan in 2013.

According to Craig Hillrich, chair of the Regina Motocross Club, the Regina Moto Valley Raceway takes advantage of a natural valley that runs through the area.

“The majority of the track is laid out on flat ground, utilizing manmade obstacles to challenge the racers,” said Hillrich. “Making this track unique is the use of a valley running through the track, which riders negotiate five times a lap.

“Soil conditions are hard-packed and at times on the side of blue groove,” he continued. “Regina Moto Valley Raceway also has a top notch pee-wee track separate from the main track, as well as a 40-man starting gate.”

The track is open to campers and includes a sign-up facility as well as seasonal washrooms. The track will also be hosting round eight of the CMRC Saskatchewan Motocross Championships on August 25, 2013.

Memberships or day passes are both available by visiting www.reginamotocross.com.

Weyburn MX Track

“The other place that we like to visit to ride is Weyburn Motocross track,” said Hillrich.

According to Weyburn MX Track maintenance person John Rouse, the reasons riders such as Hillrich visit the Weyburn track include its sand base and natural elevation.

“We have over many years developed a theme of big berms, with flow that rewards the rider who loves to get on the gas,” said Rouse. “Our jumps are progressive and commonly entered while still turning.

“The track is nested into an old sand pit on a large hill,” he continued. “There are many large trees on the property that make it a beautiful place to ride on the track or out in the back pits, where we just free ride and mess around climbing steep sand walls or jumping natural terrain or just touring the 40 acres.”

Himself a motocross and off-road enthusiast, Rouse said riders can expect high calibre motocross riding on the track and off-roading opportunities out in the back pits.

“[Motocross] is one of those few things I can do that can just make the worst days go away,” said Rouse.

The Weyburn MX track is located adjacent to the Weyburn golf course, two miles southeast of Weyburn on Highway 39.

Wicked Motor Sports Mud Bog

For riders willing to roll up their sleeves and do a little research, John Meed, general manager of the Saskatchewan All Terrain Vehicle Association, recommends two active ATV forums for digging up dirt on the best mud riding events in southern Saskatchewan.

According to Meed, both the Queen City Quadders ATV Forum and Saskatchewan Hardcore ATV “contain information on rallies and events in the province.”

One example of an upcoming event advertised on the Saskatchewan Hardcore ATV 2013 Derby Google Map is the Wicked Motor Sports Mud Bog weekend, which will take place two miles south of Regina on July 26, 27 and 28. The event will be hosted by the Canadian Mud Racing Organization, and will feature super mod to stock class mud racing, quad mud bog racing, a tough truck competition, “hill ‘n’ hole,” a monster truck demo and live bands.
