The Prince Albert Exhibition Grounds brought some of the finest riders out to play this summer, for Mud Mania 2010. Kally Aramenko and her husband, Dion, attended primarily to cheer on their friends who were competing in the ATV races, but soon they found themselves getting in on the action.
“Your Summer 2010 (RidersWest) issue includes Prince Albert's Mud Mania as #14 on the list of things to try before Labour Day (pg 13), so we did,” said Kally. “Dion and I both got talked into racing in the Buddy Run (with a little hesitation!) but after each completing a race, we were hooked and will be entering more races next year on our own.”
An event for every rider
The ATV races included several different classes, to accommodate various types of machines and riders. There was also a car show, burn-out smoke show, demolition derby and redneck racing—all hosted for the purpose of donating proceeds to the Buckland Fire Department.
Kally was impressed with the Buddy Run, where the first driver races to the end of the track, then trades places with their co-driver who races back to the other end.
“(It was) a relay race on wheels,” she said. “Dion and I were both co-drivers. It definitely was an adrenalin rush and a blast getting muddy.”
She also enjoyed cheering for her friends, who competed in several different divisions with impressive results.
“Melvin Roteski took second in the 500 - 700cc class and third in the Buddy Run with his co-driver Jaesen Dansereau,” she said. “Michelle Berezowski placed second in the women's class, and Chris Black placed second in the 701 - 800cc class. Way to go, team!”
