The Polaris Sportsman Ace. What is it? A UTV or an ATV? It is a little bit of both.
This single seat vehicle, resembling a machine from the Polaris RZR family, is a nimble and agile backcountry machine only 48 inches wide. The Ace gives you the best of both worlds when you’re on the trail. It's compact and comfortable, with an adjustable seat and steering wheel. The interior is surprisingly roomy, with easy access in and out of the unit. This is a bonus for people who may have trouble swinging a leg over the seat of a traditional ATV.
At first glance, some weren’t sure what to think. Is this a quad with a roll bar? On closer inspection, it is so much more. Many riders will appreciate not only the level of comfort, but the numerous accessories that can be incorporated into this unit. Roof, cargo storage, stereos, aftermarket lighting, windshield and a winch are just some of the ways to customize this unit. It’s nice to be comfortable, and it’s nice to have your “stuff” along with you when riding, especially safely contained in the Polaris Lock and Ride Cargo Box.
There is something to say about simplicity of operation. There are those who simply don’t want to or can’t muscle around an ATV and would prefer a unit with a steering wheel, gas and brake pedals. The lumbar support of the seat alone would open up the world of backcountry riding to even more enthusiasts.
Already a popular machine
“Customers are excited about the Polaris Sportsman Ace,” said Aaron Seminoff of Main Jet Motorsports in Nelson, B.C. "The fun and comfort factor seems to be the main drawing factors for this unit." He admits many customers have already reserved a unit before they’ve even arrived at the dealership.
Some love the comfort of a side-by-side, but don’t want to be a passenger. Let’s face it, it’s way more fun to drive than to be a passenger. This is one way to make sure everyone is getting what they need without breaking the bank. Starting at around $7499, this unit is budget friendly.
Although it resembles a RZR, this is not a race-inspired vehicle. It has a Pro-Star 32 engine, roughly equivalent to 300 cc. Not a huge engine, but when you consider a power to weight ratio this machine is more than capable of taming the rugged backcountry in style. Kind of like Gimley from Lord of the Rings, this unit is small in body but packs a punch. The Sportsman Ace has a 1500 pound towing capacity.
Since it's so easy to transport and easy to handle, I predict we’ll be seeing more of the Polaris Sportsman Ace on the trails—and perhaps for commercial application, as the roll bar protected unit meets many of the requirements necessary for work in the field.
Well done, Polaris, yet again setting a new standard for side-by-side recreation.
