This summer’s been a hot one, but that hasn’t kept ATVers from getting out there and soaking up some sun. Stephen Cameron from Fort St. John, B.C., was the winner of the RidersWest Hotshot photo contest for the month of July.

We were pleased to send him a German handcrafted Steelman 24 motorcycle figurine as a prize.

Cameron happens to be a motorcycle enthusiast as well as an ATVer and an avid outdoorsman. We learned about his passion for the outdoors and more about the photo he sent us in the following Q&A:

How long have you been an ATVer?

I started in 2007.

What’s your favourite kind of riding?

Anything with great altitude gains or great views.

What is your current machine?

A 2011 Can-Am Outlander 800R XT.

Are you part of an ATV club?

Yes, I am the president of the Moose ATV Club in Fort St. John, B.C.

Tell us about the day you took this photo.

This was a club ride to Christina Falls. I only get out to this trail every three years, but it is one of my favourites for its view of the Graham River and the spectacular falls.

Best riding area in Western Canada?

The Tumbler Ridge area still tops my list.

What does the sport mean to you?

Freedom, the pure exhilaration of horsepower and the great people who make up the community across our provinces.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?

Motorbiking, mountain biking, hiking, caving, scuba diving and kayaking.
