Marion Hoevers of Westlock, Alberta, entered this photo in our Hotshots Contest last month and won. Thanks to our sponsor, WASPcam, we were able to send her a 9900 HD Action Sports Camera in return. (To see what we’re giving away this month, visit our entry page.)

Hoevers also took some time to answer some questions about her life behind bars:

What do you currently ride?

A 2007 Yamaha Grizzly 700, but in the picture, I was riding a 2015 Outlander 1000 XT demo quad.

What is your dream machine?

A 2016 Can-Am XMR 850.

If you could go ATVing anywhere in the world, where would you go?

I would love to ride in the mountains, possibly Mica Mountain in B.C., or around Sundre, Alberta.

Tell us about the day you took this photo.

It was taken on the May long weekend up by Long Island Lake near Westlock. Our riding group was about 10 people and my husband took this picture of me. This was my first time ever hitting a mud/water hole. I was riding the 2015 Outlander 1000 XT and I told myself, “just pinner!,” and that’s what I did. My friend Min is in the background cheering me on. It was an excellent day with friends.

What other hobbies do you enjoy?

Sledding is my passion, but I took up quadding to get me through the summer months.

What do you like most about quadding?

Just being outdoors. When I’m riding, I don’t have any worries at all. Life’s problems are left behind, and we just ride. I find peace when I ride. Life behind bars—that’s the life for me.
