Outwest Camping & R.V. Park is an ATV-friendly facility near Rocky Mountain House, Alberta, where visitors can ride right from their campsite to forestry reserve land—and from there, they can gain access to numerous cutlines and old logging roads.
According to David McDonald, co-owner of Outwest Camping & R.V. Park, there are four lakes near the campground—one of which is Swan Lake. McDonald said it would take ATVers half an hour to ride from the campground to Swan Lake, which offers fishing opportunities for lake trout and brown trout.
Outwest Camping & R.V. Park was built in 2005, and McDonald said that it has spacious sites with enough room for guests to park trucks and ATV trailers. There is 30- to 50-amp service at the campground, as well as power and water hookups, showers and a wash bay for cleaning ATVs and dirt bikes.
For the past four years, Outwest Camping & R.V. Park has hosted Snowandmud.com’s annual ATV jamboree, and the campground will be hosting the event again this year. The jamboree, which is open to Snowandmud.com members only, will take place July 13 to 15, 2012. It will include demo rides, a poker rally, special presentations, a dance and fireworks.
McDonald enjoys having the jamboree at Outwest Camping & R.V. Park and he said that the members of Snowandmud.com are great people.
“They are very family oriented and they have the most awesome fireworks,” he said. “It is just a tremendous display they put on each year.”
