Riding during every season

Amy Enns grew up in the Southern Interior of B.C. with two brothers, one sister and a passion for horsepower

At the age of four, Amy Enns’ father bought her a Honda 50 and she never stopped riding.

“I guess it started off with my mom and dad—my brother and I and my younger brother and my little sister would usually hang on to the handlebars on my dad’s bike,” said Enns. “So there were six of us. But now, I usually just go with my boyfriend. We both have Enduros so we use our bikes for riding to town and to work, and off road as well.”

It was inevitable that Enns would be good with her hands. The first sign was that she used to take apart lawn mowers and put them back together in her backyard in order to spend more time with her father. Now, Enns does equipment maintenance on her dual-sports bike, snowmobile and vehicle.

“I’ve always been hands on—I sort of just look at the manual and do it,” said Enns.

Enns used to be part of a racing team and she got involved in vehicle maintenance on her downtime while she was off of the track. Her technical skills don’t end there. Enns currently designs graphics for motorbikes and snowmobiles at HTR Designs in Castlegar, and her spare time is spent in the outdoors with her boyfriend.

“We both have Enduros,” said Enns. “The Kootenays have lots of hot springs, so we’ll ride into the hot springs for a soak too.”

Previously Enns has done drag racing and oval track, but during the winter she rides snowmobiles.

“I have a turbo sled too,” said Enns, “so motorcycling in the summertime is more to scratch the winter itch.”
