Erin Wirachowski of Wilkie, Saskatchewan, was introduced to ATVs by her partner Clem Weeseekase at the 2013 Pierceland Haunted House Rally. Though she previously spent most of her spare time on the back of a horse, Wirachowski was instantly hooked.
The Pierceland rally plays host to hundreds of riders from Alberta, Manitoba and Saskatchewan, raising money for local charities. Riders of all ages and skill sets partake in the activities, followed by a wonderful gathering of food, laughter, prizes and music at the end.
“The elements of peace, adventure and good times with good people are what inspired my love for ATVing,” Wirachowski said.
At the beginning of her powersports adventures, a wayward incinerator fire destroyed many of Wirachowski’s belongings. She received the devastating call while out on the machines with her partner and friends. While she felt a sense of sadness, looking around at the incredible beauty of the prairie landscape while surrounded by her friends made everything better.
Wirachowski and Weeseekase have a plan to combine two hobbies. They have purchased a massive horse trailer with living quarters in the front. The trailer can transport horses and their UTV and ATV, depending upon their mood.
“Being on the side-by-side with Clem is nice," Wirachowski said, "but I like to ride my own machine, so the quad is my choice for adventure.”
